Federal Register Comment on FAA Enabling Supersonic Overland Flight – August 2026

AICA’s public comment, submitted to the Federal Register, Docket No. FAA-2026-6935. The comment finds that the FAA’s proposed interim framework for supersonic overland flight does not yet provide the noise, vibration, operational, community-response, and environmental evidence needed to support authorizations of unspecified scope and duration. AICA recommends that the FAA evaluate all pressure disturbances and acoustic signals that may reach the Earth’s surface, require monitoring and reporting of actual operations, establish common operating boundaries and evaluation milestones, and use the resulting evidence to inform environmental review, FAA noise-policy work, and future supersonic decisions.

Federal Register Comment on FAA Commercial Space Launch and Reentry Waiver – August 2026 – Current

AICA’s public comment, submitted to the Federal Register, Docket No. FAA-2026-8614. The comment opposes the FAA’s proposed General Waiver provision, which would remove requirements under 13 federal environmental and preservation laws from covered commercial space launch and reentry licenses and permits. AICA recommends that FAA withdraw the proposed General Waiver and pursue licensing efficiencies through coordinated, site-specific review that preserves safeguards for public health, safety, property, communities, and environmental resources.
