FAA Community Engagement Scorecard (FAACES) – May 2022-Current

Date: November 2022

Description: The FAA has asserted that it has improved its community engagement efforts over the past few years. To determine if these efforts have been adequate and resulted in improvements, from the perspective of local community groups, the Aviation-Impacted Communities Alliance (AICA) developed the project FAA Community Engagement Scorecard (FAACES). This project originated at the Aviation Noise and Emissions Symposium (“What is ‘Meaningful’ Community Engagement?”, (Slide Deck), May 2, 2022) and received media coverage by Airport Noise Report (ANR) (“Scorecard Needed to Measure Progress by FAA on Community Engagement Goals,” ANR, vol. 34, no. 16, May 6, 2022).

2. FAA Community Engagement Scorecard – Is the FAA’s Community Engagement Improving? by Darlene Yaplee

Over the last few years, the FAA has made efforts to improve its community engagement strategy by implementing tools and programs to address community engagement concerns. The presentation highlights the FAA Community Engagement Scorecard (FAACES) project by sharing a summation of responses from 47 community groups on their experience with FAA community engagement for local and national topics in 2020, 2021, and 2022 compared to pre-2020.
